Biosplice (was Samumed) – DYRK 1A targeting molecule

Biospliceā€™s mission is to restore health by delivering first-in-class therapies that harness alternative splicing. Their scientific platform is based on biological discoveries that govern tissue specialization and enable selective elimination of harmful proteins using small molecules. Biosplice has uncovered insights enabling Wnt pathway modulation that have unlocked the broad therapeutic potential of alternative splicing by targeting the CLK/DYRK family kinases. These kinases govern the selection of tissue-speciļ¬c and disease-selective RNA splice-sites, thus deļ¬ning them as targets for drug therapy. Selectively reprogramming cellular behavior could lead to the discovery of new, potentially curative therapies for certain diseases. Biospliceā€™s clinical pipeline is focused on osteoarthritis and oncology, with early-stage programs in neurology and other areas of significant unmet medical need. Biosplice has developed six different compounds with fourteen different indications currently being explored in either preclinical or clinical trials. DYRK 1A is a family of protein kinases DYRK1A that are important in the development of the nervous system. Targeting the DYRK 1A kinase to treat Alzheimer’s disease, traumatic brain injuries, and select tauopathies. Alzhiemer’s studies are currently in the lead optimization stage.
